Happy National Volunteer Week to all of our volunteers! Your dedication and time make a huge impact, helping us achieve our mission and make a difference in our local community. From our Board Members to Giving Day and community events to our Market Stall and everything in between, we couldn’t do it without you.
Our incredible Market Stall Volunteers – Maggie, Pam, Betty, Jayne, Sue, Elaine and Fina.
Meet Jayne, one of our incredible Market Stall volunteers. Jayne comes in once a week on Thursdays to volunteer at our Market Stall, but the rest of the week, she is sewing her heart out, creating beautiful clothes to sell and coordinating other volunteers in her network.
Jayne’s journey with the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation began almost ten years ago, driven by her love of giving back to the community and she initially started donating handmade items to our Market Stall after a friend introduced her to the initiative. In 2021, coming back from COVID she decided to give a Market Stall shift a try and quickly fell in love with her new volunteering role.
For nearly three years now, Jayne has been an integral team member of our Market Stall. Her favourite part of volunteering is seeing the appreciation for the handmade products. “The fact that everything here is handmade is lovely,” Jayne says. “It’s heartwarming to hear the nice comments, especially because we make everything ourselves.”
Jayne’s dedication extends beyond our Market Stall. She spends a lot of time in the community, networking to bring in products for the Foundation. Her favourite items are the children’s dresses and the little backpacks, which have become a popular addition.
Jayne’s and the other volunteer’s efforts have also branched out through the hospital, creating items for other areas such as backpacks for the hospital-at-home program and turbans for cancer patients. Her handiwork and organisational skills have made a significant impact, ensuring that those in need receive a touch of handmade comfort and care.
Whether you have volunteered with us once or volunteer regularly, we are celebrating you this week! Thank you for everything you do!
Just a small number of the generous community members who have volunteered for us, helping us make an impact!
