To promote patient relaxation, respite and comfort, Gold Coast Hospital Foundation provides tranquil, private and family-friendly environments by improving hospital facilities and patient spaces.
Hospital areas upgraded by the Foundation include the Bereavement Support Room, Youth Cancer Relaxation Space, Intensive Care Unit, Mental Health, Neonatal Intensive Care and two waiting areas in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit.
All improved hospital facilities and patient spaces are proudly funded by the Foundation thanks to generous funding received from individuals, groups, clubs and businesses in the community.
If you’re interested in helping fund one of our upcoming facility improvements on our wish list, please contact our friendly team on (07) 5594 6986.
Improving hospital facilities
Twenty-one hospital facilities and patient spaces were improved during the 2018-2019 financial year thanks to generous donations.
The Rehabilitation Unit at Robina Hospital received funding for its LIFEspace to set up ‘real life’ environments for patients undergoing physical and cognitive rehabilitation. The LIFEspace environment includes a mini shopping centre, outdoor gardening area, and leisure spaces on the ward. This will allow occupational therapists to assess a patient’s ability to do ‘real life’ activities and set up therapy programs to improve the ability to do these important daily activities.
