Gastric Ultrasound Course
The Gold Coast Anaesthetic Point of Care Gastric Ultrasound Course will be held on March 1st and 2nd 2025 at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH). Hosted by the Anaesthetic department of GCUH, the workshop is tailored to the anaesthetist in the preoperative assessment of gastric contents and volume.
The course will provide real training with hands on gastric ultrasound practice on volunteers.
Sessions
- Saturday March 1st: Refresher session at 9.00am to 12.00pm (3 hours) – Available to staff that have previously completed our POGUS course
- Saturday March 1st: one session at 1.00pm to 5pm (4 hours)
- Sunday March 2nd: one session at 8:00am to 12:00pm (4 hours)
- Sunday March 2nd: one session at 1.00pm to 5pm (4 hours)

Anaesthetic tutorial room, Level 3 D Block, Gold Coast university Hospital.

Individual Tickets – $500
Inclusions
All pre-reading materials, light snacks, half day hands on session with volunteers to scan PLUS ongoing mentoring after the course until you are both competent and confident. (Mentoring in person for GCHHS staff, remote mentoring for other health services staff).

Dr Patrick Glover is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist with the Gold Coast Health Service. He is the Clinical lead for Quality and Safety as well as having an interest in point of care ultrasound, ENT and upper GI anaesthesia.
Dr Lada Kordich
Dr Lada Kordich is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist with the Gold Coast Health Service. After completing an obstetric anaesthesia fellowship in 2023 she primarily practices as an obstetric anaesthetist but has a keen interest in medical education, point of care ultrasound and quality and safety in anaesthesia practice.
