Give Me Five Raises More Than $190,000 for Local Cancer Patients

What an incredible result for our community. 🧡

This June, we partnered with Triple M Gold to bring the Give Me Five fundraiser back after 10 years off air. Thanks to the generosity of listeners, local businesses, volunteers, partners and supporters, Give Me Five: Raise for a Ride raised more than $190,000 for Gold Coast Hospital Foundation’s Cancer Patient Transport Service.

It was heartwarming to see the Gold Coast rally behind local cancer patients, helping ensure they can get to the critical chemotherapy and radiation treatment they rely on.

The campaign reached a thrilling peak at HOTA, where Triple M Gold Breakfast hosts Leisel Jones, Liam and Spida were lifted higher and higher up the side of the iconic Gallery building as donations rolled in. By the end of the morning, they had reached the top, 28 storeys above the ground.

There was a real buzz of excitement in the air, with supporters gathering from across the Gold Coast to cheer on the team, enjoy a BBQ breakfast and coffee, and watch the challenge unfold in real time.

DONATE NOW

But while the challenge captured attention, the real impact reaches far beyond.

Behind every donation made is a person. A person navigating one of life’s toughest challenges, who simply wants to continue living.

For Terry, who has lived with breast cancer for more than 40 years, the service provides reliable access to the treatment she continues to depend on today, allowing her to continue living the life she built for herself.

For Jason, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia and spent months away from his young family undergoing treatment, the service helps ease the pressure of getting to and from his critical appointments.

Their stories are a reminder that it’s about more than just transport. It’s about removing one more barrier so patients can focus on what matters most.

DONATE NOW

Every $67 raised funds a one-way trip to treatment.

That means the funds raised through Give Me Five will help provide more than 2,800 trips for local cancer patients — helping remove one less worry during an already difficult time.

A result like this is only possible because of the incredible support of our community. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, attended events, shared the campaign, and helped spread the word.

We are particularly grateful to the many partners who helped bring Give Me Five: Raise for a Ride to life, including James Frizelle Charitable Foundation, Gold Coast SUNS, Allround Building, Austworld, Nerang RSL & Memorial Club Inc., Cool Bananas Truck, Element Rope Access, Aussie Emergency Glass, Zarraffa’s Nerang and Worongary, Highgrove Bathrooms, Greek Orthodox Church of St Anna, and Southern Cross Austereo.

Your support is helping make a meaningful difference for local cancer patients and their families. Because when you’re facing cancer, getting to treatment shouldn’t be another hurdle to overcome.

Thank you, Gold Coast, for continuing to show up when it matters most.
