Nursing and Midwifery Scholarships Program – Applications now open
Gold Coast Hospital Foundation has proudly partnered with Community Bank, Paradise Point and Pimpama-Ormeau, Bendigo Bank, with this years 2024 Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship program. There is $20,000 in scholarship support available.
This program is provided exclusively to Gold Coast Health nurses and midwives, who have completed or are expected to complete their studies in this calendar year.
A number of study scholarships are available to:
- Registered Nurses
- Registered Midwives
- Enrolled Nurses
- Assistants in Nursing

Scholarship Details
The Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship Program is available this year thanks to Community Bank, Paradise Point and Pimpama-Ormeau, Bendigo Bank, who have generously provided the funding for this years recipients.
All Gold Coast Health permanent employees in Nursing or Midwifery are invited to apply for study support, as long as the course is completed between January 2024 and December 2024. Payments are subject to satisfying scholarship criteria.
Relevant study includes courses related to your current employment, as well as Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas, Masters or PhDs. Staff who receive advanced standing from universities towards their course including the completion of a QH Transition Support Program are eligible.

Scholarship History
In previous years, the Nursing and Midwifery scholarships were delivered as a result of a significant donation from Professor Ged Williams who was Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service and Clinical Professor of Nursing, Griffith University from 2007 – 2013. During his time with Gold Coast Health and Griffith, Professor Williams was a passionate advocate for clinical excellence, continuing education and advanced specialisation across all domains of practice.
We are grateful to Ged for this paying it forward initiative to support furthering nurses education and skills.

Applications Open: 12.01am 2nd September 2024 – now open
Applications Close: 11:59pm 3rd November 2024
Assessment Phase: November 2024
Nursing Oration Presentations: 4th December 2024
Scholarship selection process
Gold Coast Health staff will apply for the scholarships through Gold Coast Hospital Foundation’s Smarty Grants portal.
A committee of professional leads from Gold Coast Health, Gold Coast Hospital Foundation and an external health professional will be engaged to determine the scholarship recipients from the submitted applications.
